Young Economist Award - Selection Process

All eligible candidates can submit their paper for the Young Economist Award at the same time that they submit their paper to the EEA congresses.

The selection committee, composed of three members - the two EEA programme chairs and a representative of the sponsoring body , asks all programme committee members for their nominations.

The Committee makes a shortlist based on nominations and all papers submitted to Award based on grade received by programme committee member who graded the paper.

The Committee then makes a final shortlist of 6 papers before making the final decision.

The winners are announced during the EEA Congresses.

From 2016 onwards, the criteria of eligible candidates changed from authors having to be under 30 years of age and no more than 3 years past a PhD defence to having to be (and all co-authors) no more than 3 years past a PhD defence.
