Ellingsen holds the Ragnar Söderberg Professorship of Economics at Stockholm School of Economics. He holds degrees from Norwegian School of Economics (MSc 1985, MPhil 1988) and London School of Economics (PhD 1991). His research often applies game theory to problems in organizational, institutional, and behavioral economics. Ellingsen has been Editor of Economica and International Journal of Industrial Organization, and an Associate/Advisory Editor of Journal of Industrial Economics, Scandinavian Journal of Economics, and Games and Economic Behavior. He is a Fellow of EEA, CEPR, and CES-ifo. He has served on the Board of Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and he has headed the Committee for the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Memory of Alfred Nobel. He is currently President of Society for Organizational and Institutional Economics, SIOE.
