EJME 2024/2025: Info on Coordination

The EJME is designed so that recruiters and candidates can plan ahead and engage in coordinated activities to make the best matches for recruiters and candidates.

Coordinating on timing is crucial and we recommend:

  1. Interviews should be held virtually from December 16, 2024 to December 19, 2024, through recognized and easy-to-use video-conferencing platforms.
  2. Recruiters are encouraged to hold flyouts (in person or virtually) in January, February and March 2025.
  3. To prevent the market from unraveling, all recruiters are urged to avoid making offers with a deadline earlier than February 1, 2025.

We aim to create a more inclusive hiring experience, to allow candidates sufficient time to evaluate their offers, and to give recruiters the chance to evaluate all candidates of interest. Therefore, the EJME Committee also provides guidelines for institutions and candidates regarding the use of exploding offers.

An exploding offer is any offer with a deadline of less than 7 days. The EJME Committee views the use of exploding offers as unacceptable, as they may exert undue pressure on candidates and prevent other recruiters from making offers to the pressured candidates. Therefore, any offer made is expected to be valid for at least 7 days.

To facilitate planning for future years, the EJME committee has also fixed the dates for the timing of interviews of future EJME editions:

  • Dec 15-18, 2025
  • Dec. 14-17, 2026
  • Dec. 13-16, 2027
  • Dec. 11-14, 2028
