JEEA-FBBVA Lecture 2024, Madrid, Spain
Pol Antràs will give the 2024 JEEA-FBBVA lecture - The Uncharted Waters of International Trade - at the FBBVA headquarters in Madrid on Tuesday, December 10 at 18:00 CET
The field of international trade has undergone significant developments over the last 25 years, particularly with the rise of firm-level approaches to the study of trade flows and multinational activity. However, there remain several underexplored areas (or "uncharted waters"). In this lecture, Pol will review recent developments in the field, while outlining potential new areas of research, including a more prominent role of oligopolistic firm behavior in workhorse models, and a more active cross-fertilization with other branches of Economics. Pol will also discuss the potential role of big data and artificial intelligence in shaping the causes and consequences of international trade flows, and the design of trade policies.
The lecture will be chaired by Rafael Repullo and Hélène Rey will act as discussant.
EEA has a limited amount of travel funds available for PhD students at Spanish institutions who wish to attend the lecture. If you wish to take advantage, please email us through admin@eeassoc.org
