Teaching Awards 2024
The 2024 EEA Awards for Exceptional Teaching have been announced. Congratulations to:
Senior category: Patricio Dalton, Tilburg University.
Patricio is being recognized for his long-standing achievement and commitment to student learning. He teaches several courses, all with passion and enthusiasm, going the extra mile to ensure that no student leaves the lecture hall with unanswered questions. He has been consistently recognized for teaching excellence in Tilburg, where students regularly comment how impactful and memorable his courses are.
Junior Category: Jérôme Santoul, Lancaster University.
Jérôme has demonstrated an engaging and innovative teaching style, incorporating new approaches to student learning. He has gained the appreciation of students and colleagues for his work across a diverse range of courses.
Early career (TAs and PhD students). Anmol Somanchi, Paris School of Economics.
Anmol’s students report that he very skilled at making complex topics understandable and interesting, a very impressive feat for an early career teacher. He succeeds in making his econometrics classes relevant and rewarding.
The EEA Award for Innovation in Teaching goes to LMU-York Virtual Journal Club for Undergraduates (Matthias Lang and Karen Bernhardt-Walther). This collaborative initiative uses new technologies to create an environment where undergraduates in two universities meet virtually to discuss economics research. Students appreciate the opportunity for productive interaction with faculty and other students and feel the club helps them develop on multiple dimensions.
